Welcome, warrior.
This one’s for the warrior maiden. The daughter of the King. The one who gets up each day and arms herself with her shield and sword, ready to battle for her Father’s kingdom.
This one’s also for the King’s daughter who is battle-worn and tired of fighting. The one who feels attacked on every side. The weary knight whose armor has fallen and whose sword lays in the mud.
Whether you relate to the first, the last, or somewhere in-between—we all have something in common, warrior. Our King fights for us. He never leaves us or abandons us. The victory belongs to Him.
“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.” —2 Corinthians 4:8-9
It’s time to get back up, warrior. It’s time to stand together. And it’s time to put on our armor.
SPIRITUAL WARRIOR
What is a spiritual warrior?
“A spiritual warrior in the Bible is a believer who engages in invisible, spiritual battle against evil forces using divine armor rather than physical weapons, focusing on faith, truth, and prayer to uphold God’s kingdom. Grounded in Ephesians 6, they are called to stand firm, enduring hardship and relying on the Holy Spirit for victory.”
We are at war. Every day, there is an invisible battle going on between good and evil—between God’s kingdom and the enemy’s kingdom. As followers of Christ, we know that our King has won the ultimate victory, and He will one day defeat evil forever. But while we’re here on this earth, we are still in the midst of a spiritual war. However, we are not alone—our God fights for us, and He teaches us in His Word how to equip ourselves with His armor of protection.
“Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” —Ephesians 6:11-12
ARMOR OF GOD STUDY
This month, we will study in-depth each piece of the armor of God. (AND I AM SO EXCITED GUYS. AHHHH. God taught me SO much through this study, and I hope it’s impactful for you, too!)
We will read about the armor of God in Ephesians 6 on day 1, and then for the rest of the month we will spend 5 days on each piece of armor, reading passages that go deeper into these spiritual defenses and how to use them. You’ll also find daily songs and challenges to help further bring these pieces of armor to life.
These are the 6 pieces of the armor of God:
- BELT OF TRUTH
- BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
- SHOES OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE
- SHIELD OF FAITH
- HELMET OF SALVATION
- SWORD OF THE SPIRIT
LITTLE STUDY TIPS:
- Pray and invite Jesus into your study time each day.
- Day 3’s challenge is to “make a spiritual warrior Pinterest board.” If you need an example, here’s mine!
- For an immersive study, I highly recommend playing a medieval ambience on YouTube, like this one.
SPOTIFY PLAYLIST
You can find all of this month’s songs (+ more) on my Spotify playlist, this is my war cry. I made this playlist during an intense season of spiritual warfare in my life. This is my battle playlist, my war cry. These songs have helped me through so much. And I hope they’re an encouragement to you, too!
Take heart, warrior. You are not alone. You have an army of believers on your side, and a King who fights for you. The battle belongs to the LORD!
“For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.” —1 John 5:4-5
