LG chairman confirms bandits attack on Borgu

By Wole Mosadomi
Minna – Alhaji Mohammed Nasir Abdullahi, Chairman of Borgu Local Government, has confirmed the recent attack by bandits on communities within the Borgu Emirate, Niger State, during which a bridge was bombed.

A reliable source said the attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, around 5 a.m. “Bandits stormed Borgu Local Government Area and bombed the Lunma-Babana bridge. This has prevented villagers from crossing to other parts of the communities, including access to the Banana Monday Market for trade,” the source explained.

Explosions were also reported between Rafingiwa and Babana, as well as at Woro and Kaiama, forcing residents to flee. It is not yet known if there were any casualties.

Chairman Abdullahi added, “There was indeed an attack by the bandits, and we are trying to verify the magnitude. A bridge was damaged, and we have sent people to assess the situation.”

Authorities are continuing investigations to determine the full impact of the attack.
