Gusau – Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has pledged ongoing support, respect, and recognition for the state’s traditional institutions, describing them as key partners in grassroots development, culture, and security.
The governor made the remarks at the Palace of the Emir of Kaura-Namoda following the Sallah Durbar celebration organized by the Emirate Council. Represented by the State Head of Service, Alhaji Yakubu Sani Haidara (NMI), Lawal emphasized that royal fathers serve as a vital bridge between the government and the people.
“My administration will continue to support traditional rulers to encourage them to uphold the virtues of peace, unity, and stability as custodians of culture. We are also committed to giving all Emirates Councils a befitting facelift,” he said.
Lawal highlighted that renovation and construction works at Tsafe and Anka Emirate Councils have been completed and commissioned, and promised that similar upgrades will cover all emirates, including the Kaura-Namoda Emirate Council. He also assured that his administration would continue delivering dividends of democracy through improvements in welfare, education, and security.
The Emir of Kaura-Namoda, Major Sanusi Muhammad Ahmed Asha, commended the governor for his initiatives, particularly the renovation of emirate palaces and the completion of Gusau International Airport, which recorded its first takeoff on Sunday. The emir also praised the government for providing armored personnel carriers, vehicles, and equipment to tackle insecurity in the state.
The grand Sallah Durbar attracted dignitaries from across the state and beyond, with awards presented to cultural groups and entertainers in recognition of their contributions during the celebration.
