As the calendar of the Celestial Church of Christ advances, we are once again ushered into one of the most sacred and spiritually significant seasons of our faith, the Holy Week, culminating in the glorious celebration of Easter.

This year, the journey begins with the Washing of Feet for all Shepherds and the Holy Communion, scheduled for Saturday, 28th March 2026, at KM 53, Celestial Theological Seminary. This solemn gathering sets the spiritual tone and ushers the Church into Palm Sunday, 29th March 2026, a day that commemorates the triumphant entry of our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.

Palm Sunday is not merely symbolic; it is a call to spiritual consciousness. On this day, all Celestians across the world are expected to replace the usual chant of “HALLELUYAH” with “HOSSANA,” echoing the cries of those who welcomed Christ in triumph.

It is also a day of active outreach, as all parishes are mobilized for street evangelism. This is not an assignment for a select few, it is a collective responsibility. Every member is called to take the Gospel beyond the walls of the Church, presenting both the message and the image of the Celestial Church with unity, dignity, and reverence.

With the arrival of Holy Week (Monday, 30th March to Saturday, 4th April 2026), the Church enters a deeply reflective and spiritually intensive period. The chant returns to “HALLELUJAH,” and the focus shifts to fasting, prayer, repentance, and self-examination. This is not just a routine observance but a divine opportunity for spiritual renewal and realignment with God.

An important symbolic shift also occurs during this period: the palm frond, often regarded as a spiritual sword within the Church, reverts to its physical identity as a palm leaf—“màrìwò òpẹ̀” in Yoruba. This signifies a return to simplicity, humility, and spiritual focus.

Members are encouraged to resist distractions and avoid the influence of lukewarm attitudes that may trivialize this sacred season. The journey of faith is deeply personal, and each individual must walk it with sincerity and commitment.

Throughout Holy Week, daily services will be held on or before 6:00 PM in all parishes, serving as moments for breaking of fast, prayer, and brief worship. Members are expected to participate actively and bring fruits- within their means-for communal fellowship, reinforcing unity and shared devotion.

A key highlight of the week is Holy Thursday, 2nd April 2026, often referred to as “The Trilogy.” On this day, three significant services will be observed: the Washing of Feet for all members, the Holy Communion administered by Parish Shepherds, and the statutory New Moon Service. It is a day rich in symbolism, humility, and divine instruction.

The solemnity deepens on Good Friday, 3rd April 2026, marked by three services at 9:00 AM, 12:00 Noon, and 3:00 PM. While selected representatives will gather at the CCC National Headquarters in Makoko, all other members are expected to participate in their respective parishes. The fast concludes after the 3:00 PM service, followed by a simple but meaningful love feast of koko and akara, symbolizing unity and shared grace.

Then comes the glorious dawn of Easter Sunday, 4th April 2026—a day of victory, joy, and celebration of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Church returns to the full chant of “HALLELUYAH,” and members are adorned in their full Celestial regalia, rejoicing in the triumph of life over death.

The celebrations extend to Easter Monday, designated as Family Day, where members gather at the KM 53 grounds for a joyful time of fellowship, music, dance, and thanksgiving. Parishes may also organize local events, reflecting the same spirit of unity and gratitude.

As we enter this sacred season, we are reminded that it is not merely a period on the calendar but a divine call to deeper consecration. It is a time to renew our commitment to God, to walk in holiness, and to embody the true essence of the Celestial Church of Christ.

May the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ bring a new lease of life to every member; spiritually, physically, and eternally.

Happy Holy Week and Easter Celebrations ahead.

HALLELUYAH!
