Lagos to divert traffic at Ojuelegba Flyover for truck barrier installation

By Olasunkanmi Akoni

The Lagos State Government has announced plans to divert traffic for two nights at Stadium Flyover Bridge (inward and outward) and Ojuelegba Flyover Bridge near the Fire Station to allow for the installation of truck barriers.

The diversion, scheduled to last from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 a.m., will take place on Saturday, 28th to Sunday, 29th March 2026, and Saturday, 4th to Sunday, 5th April 2026.

Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, made the announcement in a statement on Friday, urging motorists to follow designated alternative routes during the barrier installation.

Motorists from Eko Bridge/Costain/Iponri inbound to Ojuelegba/Alhaji Masha Road will be diverted to the service lane from Alaka via the National Stadium gate to link Barracks or continue via Alhaji Masha Road.

Additionally, motorists from Eko Bridge via Costain and those from Apapa Road passing through Iponri are advised to use Iponri Estate Road to connect to Bode Thomas via Adeniran Ogunsanya to Shitta Roundabout to reach their destinations.

Osiyemi urged motorists to exercise patience, noting that the nighttime closure is part of the state’s traffic management strategy to minimize disruption while ensuring the safe installation of the truck barriers.
