The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ebonyi State Command, has intercepted a total of 134.483kg of illicit drugs within the last quarter of 2025 in different parts of the state.
The State Commander Jude Ahamefule, who disclosed this in Abakaliki said that the command arrested a total of 157 drugs dealers comprising 34 females and 123 males between ages of 14 to 84 years in the state.
He said that the intercepted and seized illicit drugs were Cannabis 106.978kg, methamphetamine 0.0589kg, heroin 0.0046kg, tramadol 100mg 1.407kg, tramadol 225mg 0.066kg, diazepam 700tabs 0.161kg, co-codamol 342tabs 0.231kg and Ergometrine inj 90amps 0.109kg
Other illicit drugs recovered within the last quarter of 2025 in the state include Pentazocine inj 90amps 0.243kg, phenobarbitone syrup 480ml 0.550kg, phenobarbitone tabs0.102kg, bromazepam 459tabs 0.268kg, flunitrazepam 12 tabs 0.0053kg and monkey tail 243kg.
According to Ahamefule, the command within the period under review, also secured convictions of six males between the age range of 22 to 55 years and rehabilitated /discharged 4 clients.
He called for donation of vehicles from government, philanthropists, cooperate bodies among others to the command to guarantee regular patrol and surveillance across the nooks and crannies of the state.
“For the period under review, a total of 44 suspects were referred to the counselling unit within the age brackets of 19 to 65 years and they were duly counselled.
“The Command carried out eleven sensitization campaigns which cut across schools, religious organizations, and communities across the state as part of war against drug abuse activities,” he stated.
